Evelyn Beatrice Halford went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Fair
Havens Christian Home.
Funeral service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 23, 2016 in First Christian
Church, (3350 MacArthur Road, Decatur, Illinois, 62526) with Pastor Wayne Kent officiating. A visitation will
be one hour before the service also at the church. Burial will be at 3:00 pm Friday in Filmore Cemetery,
Filmore, IL. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care
is in charge of the arrangements.
Evelyn was born in November of 1919 in Fayette County to Zella and Nova Hicks of Bingham, Illinois. She
worked as a cook for the Warrensburg Latham School District for many years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting,
knitting and other various crafts. She also loved to cook. She was known by many for her cooking abilities. She
was a member of First Christian Church of Decatur.
Evelyn married Kearney C. Halford in April of 1937. He preceded her in death as did several of their children,
Hal Halford, Joan Marie Halford, Charles Edward Halford and Larry Dale Halford, and a great grandson, Isaac
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Kay (John) McLaughlan of Fishers, IN, and Carol Jean Halford of
Warrensburg, IL; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
