Charles Stewart Burns
1959 - 2017

Born in March of 1959 Charles Stewart Burns came into the world kicking and screaming, and he did not slow for
fifty-eight years.  The son of Charles Blaine Burns and June Lowe Wray, he was the boy on the middle of four sisters.
Chuck attended Stephen Decatur High School. While maybe not the best student, he was definitely an outstanding
musician and athlete.

After high school he enlisted in the Marines and served his country for the next four years. Like everything in
Chuck's life he did not do this half way. He loved his country and the Marine Corp.  In 1981 he married the love of his
life, Rhonda Rodgers. Together they brought two beautiful daughters into the world. Chuck was devoted to the girls,
and when they grew up and got married he embraced their husbands. His four grandchildren were the light of his life.

Though he excelled in every sport he played, his real passion was on the ball field. He was born with a bat and ball in
his hands. He was a true inspiration and asset to every team he encountered.

He was a first rate electrician, an outstanding softball player, a remarkable musician, and an avid hunter. He was a
loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a mentor, leader, and team player, and will
truly be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his father (Charles B. Burns) and his stepfather (Harry C. Wray).

He was survived by his wife (Rhonda K. Burns), daughter and son-in-law (Lyndsey and David Herring), daughter and
son-in-law (Tonya and Shane Melhorn), grandchildren (Stasia, Owen, Gwendolyn, and Daxton), mother (June Lowe
Wray), and four sisters (Carol Gibbons, Robyn (Dennis) Ballweg, Susie ( Mark) Smith, and Angela Lake).Theresa
(Chris) Ford, brother, Chris (Katie) Burns.

Memorial service will be 6:30 pm. Thursday July 20, 2017 at Fans Field (corner of Garfield and Woodford in
Decatur).  Memorials may be made to The American Lung Association. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is
