|Mamie Eloise Dawson, 92 of Monticello, formerly of Farmer City, died October 30,
Mamie was born in November of 1923, in Kentucky, the daughter of Wallace and Ida
Edmonds. Mamie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ottis Edmonds and
sister, Maxine Edmonds Bailey and husbands, Claude Stimler and John Dawson. She
was married to Harold Foley and they had one son.
She is survived by son, James (Rosemary) Foley, New Smyrna Beach, FL, two
granddaughters Jill (Brian) Tichenor, Monticello, IL and Erin (Jeff) Naas, Carmel, IN.
She is also survived by four great-granddaughters, Emily Tichenor, Cara Naas, Kate
Naas and Nora Naas. Mamie also leaves behind many loving members of the Dawson
family and nephews Barry (Beth) Bailey, Mike Edmonds and Ronnie Edmonds.
Mamie enjoyed a long career as bookkeeper for Pre-Fab Transit. She was a Farmer
City Alderman, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Joe Williams Post #55,
Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post #5346 and Cumberland Presbyterian
Church, Farmer City. Mamie also enjoyed many volunteer opportunities in the
DeWitt County area.
A celebration of life will be held at the Farmer City American Legion on Friday,
November 25 from 4:00-6:30 to honor her life.
Mamie’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Maple Point
Supportive Living, Piatt County Nursing Home and Kirby Hospital for their
