CHRISTIE

Harold "Dutch" Christie, age 81, went home to the Lord at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 17, 2016) in Fair Havens
Christian Home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, in Calvary Southern Baptist Church, 1833 S. Country Club Road.
Visitation will be one hour before the service in the church. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge
of arrangements.

He was born in May  of 1935 in Walker, Illinois, the son of Harry and Ruth Christie. He married Janice Bender in
November of 1960 in Boyd, Illinois. He attended Cerro Gordo High School where he pitched for the baseball State
Championship. He also coached little league in Mount Zion for several years. He served in the Army Armed
Division when Alaska became a state, and drove his tank in the statehood parade in 1959. He retired from sheet
metal local 218. He also served as trustee and financial director at Lakeview Baptist Church and trustee at Calvary
Baptist Church.

He was a devoted husband and father and loved his family. He leaves his wife  of fifty-five years, Janice; his son,
Harold (Teresa), of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Rachel (Peter) Cox of Farmer City, Illnois; Samantha
(Alex) DuRietz, of Sesser, Illinois; Amanda (Chris) Hicks and Gordon Christie of Springfield, Missouri;
great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Chloe, Virginia, Dutch, Wyatt and Sophia; brother, Halden (Sheila); sisters, Jean
Matherly and Carol (Jerry) Ferguson.

A special thank you to pastor Mitch Flesch, who he loved to harass; special friends, Howard and Barb Sevits;
sister-in-laws, Jackie and Lana; many nieces and nephews; Dr. William Franklin and devoted medical staff.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.

Harold was proceeded in death by his parents, Harry and Ruth; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Virginia
Bender; and brother-in-laws, Robert Bender II and Edward "Bill" Matherly.
