Robert E. Davis, 90, of Decatur, died Thursday, April 14, 2016, in his residence.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 18, 2016, in West Decatur Church Of God. Visitation will be
Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 1:30 to 3:30 P.M. at the Church. Masonic service will be at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at
Graceland Cemetery, with Military Honors by The U.S. Army Ceremonial Team. Memorial contributions would
be appreciated to West Decatur Church Of God or Land Of Lincoln Honor Flight. Tanzyus Logan Funeral Service is
in Charge of the arrangements.
Robert was born in March of 1926, in Decatur, the son of Paul B. and Adelaide Mae Davis. He graduated from
Decatur High School. He worked for the Wabash Railroad and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad in 1986. He
was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving in World War II and also the Korean Conflict. He was a member of
West Decatur Church of God, and a member of Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge #979 A.F. & A.M. Robert loved to
do woodworking projects, trains, taking pictures, boating and fishing, and his dog Otis. He married Norma Jean
Sunderland in May of 1949, in Decatur and she preceded him in death in February of 2007.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Bobetta Crackel and Louann Davis, both of Decatur; grandchildren Wilford ”
Billy” Crackel, II and wife Angela of Merrilville, Indiana, Courtney Dick and husband, David of Decatur; and
Jonathan Franklin and wife Chrystina of Minneapolis, Minnesota; six greatgrandchildren and one great great
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son-in-law, Wilford Crackel.
