Arvin L. Potter, 76 of Decatur formerly of Latham, IL, died in his home at 11:20 a.m. Saturday September 12, 2015 with his family by his side.
A memorial service to celebrate Arvin’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday September 15, 2015 at New Beginnings Church of God Decatur with Pastor Mark Smith
officiating. Family will greet friends at 1:30 until service time at the church. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to DMH Hospice or to New
Beginnings Church of God. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
Arvin was born in October of 1938 in Lincoln, IL, son of Aaron and Dorothy Potter. He worked as a paramedic for the Lincoln Logan Ambulance Service. He
also was a driver for Poage and Crown Auto Dealers. Arvin married his sweetheart, Carolyn Walcott in July of 1957 in Jamestown, TN. He was an avid fan of
the Bears, Cubs and the Fighting Illini.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years Carolyn Potter, sons, Mark (Carol) Potter of Maryville, TN, Jason (Nancy) Potter of Latham, IL, grandchildren, Adrianne
Potter, Payton Potter, Whitney Potter, Autum Roseburgh, step-grandson, Cody Williams, great-grandson, Colt and Arvin’s dog, Panda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
