Harlan A. Drake, 91 of Decatur died at 6:45 a.m. Friday January 23, 2015 in Fairhaven’s Nursing Home.
Funeral service celebrating Harlan’s life will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday January 27, 2015 at Maranatha Assembly of God with Pastor Doug Lowery officiating.
Visitation will be 2 hours before service time at the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park with Military Rites by the Macon County Honor
Guard. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
Harlan was born in June of 1923 in Nokomis, IL., son of Frank and Mary Drake. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II stationed in England.
Harlan worked for A.E. Staley’s as a Starch Operator. Upon retirement he drove a school bus for the public schools in Decatur. He married Joyce P. Vaughn
in March of 1949 in Arkansas.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce P. Drake, daughter, Belinda (Gary)Miller of Decatur, son, Bruce Drake of Mt. Zion, grandsons, Dennis Miller and Terry Miller,
great grandchild, Cheyenne Miller both of Cerro Gordo, niece, Brenda Callum of Witt, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wilber, sisters, Wilda and Jean.
Harlan was a good husband, dad and grandpa who enjoyed his family, kids, and dogs. He loved to travel and ride in the semi-truck with his son-in-law Gary
and visits to Texas where he loved horseback riding. He will be deeply missed.
