Dr. William N. Hoffmann
1923 - 2018

Dr. William Neilsson “Doc” Hoffmann, 94 of Decatur died Friday January 26, 2018 in
McKinley Court Nursing Home.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am. Wednesday January 31, 2018 at St. Thomas the
Apostle Catholic Church (2160 N. Edward Street Decatur, Illinois 62526) with             
Fr. Rick Welton celebrant. Visitation will be 2 to 5 pm. Tuesday January 30, 2018 at
the church and one hour before Mass on Wednesday. Burial will be in Camp Butler
National Cemetery Springfield, Illinois Wednesday January 31 at 2 pm. Memorials
may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral
Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

William was born in November of 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, son of William and
Malvena Hoffmann. He was an Optometrist in Decatur for forty-five years. He served
in the U.S. Army during World War II. William was an active Boy Scout having
received the Silver Beaver Award and the Order of the Arrow. He was a longtime
member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and served on the board of Catholic Charities.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Parks) Hoffmann, son, Will Hoffmann of
Collinsville, Illinois, daughter, Mary (Patrick) Thelen of Michigan, grandsons, Michael
(Kimberly) Thelen, Matthew and Mark Thelen, five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Loretta Hoffmann and brother, Malvin
Hoffmann.
