Virgil Edward “Bud” Day, passed away April 27, 2017 at McKinley
Court Care Center in Decatur, Illinois
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Point Pleasant
Cemetery, Long Creek with Military Honors by the Macon County
Honor Guard. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of

Virgil was born in October of 1931 in Decatur, Illinois, son of Samuel J.
and Lucy Della Day. He married Eunice Louise Newlin, in September of
1956 and they shared sixty years together.
Virgil served in the Navy for two years and the Air Force for four
years. He retired from the Sheet Metal Local 218 after thirty-five years
of employment. Virgil loved to hunt rabbit and squirrel. He enjoyed
fishing and metal detecting with his wife. In his spare time he would
make things out of wood. He would also spend hours watching birds
and “squirrels”. He liked to play pool and talk on the CB Radio.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Eunice “Louise” Day, children, Becky
(Mark) Medlock and Dennis Day of Decatur and David Borders,
grandchildren, Jennifer (Adam) Mellott, Casey Medlock of Decatur,
Zachary (Alicia) Day of Mt. Zion, Anthony Day of Staunton and Callie
Day of Florida,2 great grandkids and sisters, Elnora Harlin of Decatur
and Doris Tomlinson of Georgia, also his beloved dog Angel.
He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Eugene Day, parents, five
sisters and two brothers.
